Purpose

The Certified Healthcare Risk Manager credential is dedicated to the credentialing of healthcare and law professionals who work in the specialty area of health care risk management. This credential is designed to measure one's knowledge of general risk management techniques, standards of health care risk management administration, federal, state and local laws, and methods for integrating patient safety and enterprise risk management into a comprehensive risk management program.

Qualifications

The certification candidate must meet the minimum continuing education hours and any one of the educational/degree criteria before being eligible to sit for the CHRM examination:

  1. A minimum of 60 continuing education hours in health care risk management training/courses.
  2. Master's degree and 3 years worth of experience in health care risk management.
  3. If a nurse with an RN designation, you must have a minimum of 3 years work experience
  4. Bachelor's degree and 5 years worth of experience in elder care management
  5. Associate's degree and 7 years worth of experience in elder care management

Recertification

The Certified Healthcare Risk Manager professional must have his or her CHRM credential renewed every 3 years by demonstration of 30 hours of (CHCC approved) continuing education hours
